Need a new piston ring? Empty
PostSubject: Need a new piston ring?   Need a new piston ring? EmptyFri Jul 23, 2010 8:23 am

Hi guys,

My engine is running weird.

There seems to be compression, as it starts. Within a few minutes, would get more and more bogging..under acceleration.

If I lift all wheels off the round, it would get maximum revs quite happily. Just bogs under load, and with the throttle planted, the engine would just bogs more and more and eventually flame out.

Engine then won't start straight away, but will fire after a quick coffee break.

Does this sound like a classic sympton of worn piston ring?

Doesnt sound like classic symptoms

But does show some signs

Didnt look too bad when I had it in bits last

Does sound a lot like a bad clutch to me though

As If its happy to rev with NO load
Yet die with Load, then that doesn't sound like the engine to me really
More like the clutch slipping

Never a worry my good fellow

More than likely worn clutch shoes, or the spring going GOOD

Hope it's not neither, both are only couple of tanks old. Otherwise, there's something causing usual wear and/or breakages.

I'm guessing the nut that holds the clutch shoes on the crankshaft is not done tight enough.

Going to whoop it off tomorrow.
