Fuel and Oil Ratio Guide Empty
PostSubject: Fuel and Oil Ratio Guide   Fuel and Oil Ratio Guide EmptyFri Apr 02, 2010 10:40 am

ere is a simple guide fuel oil mixture guide, for if you are unsure, these aren't the only mixtures you can use but are the most popular

25:1 - 200ml oil : 5 litres of fuel
Richer setting, best for breaking in an engine, but can be used for normal running, will keep your engine alive for years

32:1 - 150ml oil : 5 litres of fuel
Intermediate Setting, probably the most common amongst the everyday basher, slightly more lean than the 25:1 so will give you a bigger bang and some more rev's, but also has enough oil to keep your engine well lubricated and working smoothly

40:1 - 125ml oil : 5 litres of fuel
Leaner setting for higher performance and higher revs but lower oil content, it won't cause your engine to explode but it will have a shorter lifespan than one running at 25:1.

You don't have to stick to these mixture's, you can try in between ones such as 36:1 which is 140ml of oil to 5 litres of fuel etc. I wouldn't suggest going beyond 40:1 though as the low oil content could shorten your engine's lifespan considerably

Some even run crazy ratio's like 50:1

Anyone tried the Castrol XR 77?

This is the claim for this product:

"Castrol XR77 is the ultimate pre-mix racing 2-stroke engine oil, designed to work with all the latest engines and fuels, including unleaded.

Developed in conjunction with the top race team, Castrol XR77 has a high lubricity to prevent seizure in over-speed conditions, allowing tuners to lean out their engines to a maximum. This also contains special additives to prevent throttle slide stickingin wet weather conditions and may be used mixed at fuel/oil ratios of up to 40:1.

FIM Certification:Castrol XR77 is fully certified for use in motorcycle racing with the following EMPA test report number: 417478/0"

Would this be the oil to run with highly tuned engines?
