| Would you adam and eve it?
Busted all the fins on the flywheel, on the pullstart side, the crank case side is fine..bar one fin.
To compensate for loss of cooling ability, I've reemed lots of holes on the plastic cover around the heatsink/cylinder/where the spark plug is.
How much cooling ability have I lost due to loss of all the fins on one side of the flywheel?

How much cooling ability have I lost due to loss of all the fins on one side of the flywheel? thats not good news fella an while your lost a lot of cooling your bigger worry is the balance your lost, in losing all those fins the flywheel fan is properly balanced, an loss of that will put a lot of added strain onto the crank bearings as its flying around, unbalanced you can get fans that are machined down to make them lighter an in doing this, you also do loose some cooling ability but they too are done so they are properly balanced, so as not to damage the engine, an bearings i take it you got some crap into the pull start through the vents an it jammed an snapped of the fins this is one of the main reasons, people do the MESH mod on the pull starts, so they can still draw in air, keeping the engine cool but helps keep out any large chunks of stuff that can damage the fins realisticliy your looking at a new flywheel fan bud

| Ordered one and a puller also.
Didn't check to see if new flywheel comes with new bearing though =(
Ya tought cooling might be greatly reduced. Yup, found stones lodged in some the fins on the crank side...baaaaddd. =(
Cheers for the info on balanced flywheel, just hope the damage is minimal.
Awaiting some Outerwears for the pullstart and air filter. Need a cover for the crank side also, might go down to B&Q or the likes and see what they have.
Still fingers crossed for this Sunday, might run out of money before then..*shrugs*

Here's the beast..with New engine & pipe, outerwears, awaiting new diff housing (fried the rear diff gears running the engine in..doh!!), diff oils (70k front, 100k centre, 30k rear), and shock socks, that's about it. Nearing the end of a 2.5 week slog at work, can't wait to get the kit sorted for the weekend!!! Right, got a 5am start tomorrow, see you guys all Sunday!! COOOMMEE ON!!!

| Cheers buddy =)
Yaa..plastic diff casing has a bump where the rod that joins two gears seem to have worped against the inside of the case.
The alloy replacement should do the trick..fingers crossed.
Does anybody have rear diff problems? Or find that they wear out quicker?

| Inspired by Aiden's snow chains..which looks like the real thing..good work buddy!! Fabbed these tonight: Should they be cut back a bit shorter? Unfortunately the treads have worn rather unevenly, so some looks to be poking out more than the others. Sod's law, now they're ready for testing, there's no snow or enough ice outside the house to test =( | |

| There must be something about. Just not on my street anymore. =(
The other week, some punk ass kids were handbraking it outside the house, and I regretfully resisted the urge to get the buggy out.
Might have to take a little drive around this weekend, work permitting.
